2010 Projects and Workdays:

  

E-Loo Construction Project Rubicon Springs June 15th - Tuesday:

  

We are looking for 6-10 Volunteers with Carpenter skills and tools to complete the construction of the E-Loos at Rubicon Springs.

 

Steve Morris and Rich Prince are the Leads for this project.

 

Please contact me if you are able to donate some time, and I will forward your information to RSSI.

  

Bucket Brigade - TLCA Rubithon June 15th - Tuesday:

  

We will need 10-20 (total) volunteers for this project

 

Rock will be hand loaded by 6-10 volunteers, into 5 gallon buckets at the Log Landing on 14N05, and carried to the trail where they will be given to TLCA Rubithon Participants as they pass Ellis Creek.

 

2-4 Volunteers will be stationed at the incised section of Walker Hill. Take the buckets from every other participant vehicle and dump into the incised section of trail evenly.

 

2-4 Volunteers will be stationed at the Big right turn at Winter Camp.

They will take the remaining buckets from Participants and dump it into the incised section of trail evenly.

 

Through Radio contact, when the last of the participants pass, the buckets will be loaded and returned to Ellis Creek Log Landing.

  

Loon Lake Inter tie Drainage Project WORKDAY June 26

  

We will need 100 volunteers

 

This project will be centered around the California Geological Survey map. Eldorado County DOT will be defining the work to be done. At present there are 20-30 drainage structures noted on this 2 mile section of trail.

 

The ECDOT will be delivering the rock needed for this project.

 

Logs from Friends of Eldorado's Fitch Rantz project will be used to build the drainage structures.

 

The SEE Truck - a Unimog purchased for use on the Rubicon Trail using a grant $$'s from OHMVR - applied for by the Rubicon Trail Foundation will be on hand to do the digging of the drainage structures.

 

Our job will be to transport rock and logs to each of the identified sites, and install the logs and rock and form the drainage structures.

 

We will need trailers to haul logs and rock, chainsaws to fit the logs into the ditches dug by the SEE Truck, shovels and digging bars to fine tune the structures.

  

Cadillac Hill Big Turn Waterbar Project/Sawtooth Drainage Project WORKDAY July 17

  

We will need 40-50 volunteers

 

We will need 10-15 volunteers to help with installing a waterbar on Cadillac Hill at the Big Turn. This project will include the use of Jackhammer and Roto Hammer. Materials will be brought in by vehicle/ trailers from the Tahoe side of the trail, and delivered to the site.

In addition we will be hardening the Turn with a couple trailer loads of rock.

 

We will need 6-8 volunteers for the Sawtooth Project. We will be also installing a temporary drainage structure to the Sawtooth below Big Sluice. There will also be a Gabion basket installed to shore up the hillside temporarily for the season. John Arenz will be lead on this project. Materials and supplies will need to be brought in by vehicle/ trailer from the Tahoe side.

 

We will need 10 -20 volunteers for other projects may include adding more rock to the mud hole at the springs, and other drainage structures TBD by the ECDOT.

 

We will need vehicles with trailers, buckets, shovels, digging bars, re bar, sledge hammers, drills, drill bits, epoxy and cyclone fencing.

End of Year Volunteer Appreciation Party and Raffle

 

Oct 23rd after the Workday

  

This year we are going to have a Volunteer appreciation party on our last workday. All volunteers who have worked throughout the year will be invited. We will have food, MTA/4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers raffle, and live music. All volunteers will be entered into the raffle, you do not need to be present to win.

  

BUT WHO WOULD WANT TO MISS IT???
